Born in Saronno in 1981, raised in Caronno Pertusella, I currently live in Milan with my wife.

I have published a few books translated in eight languages. With the novel Morte di un uomo felice (“Death of a Happy Man”) I won the prestigious Campiello Award 2014, and my vast family saga Prima di noi (“Before Us”) was awarded in 2020 by the Bagutta and Mondello prizes among others and will soon be adapted into a international tv series. My last one is an extensive essay on Kafka.

I contribute to national and international papers and magazines such as Politico, The Massachusetts Review, NZZ, la piccioletta barca and The European Review of Books. I have also written several comics stories for “Topolino” (Mickey Mouse Magazine – Disney Italy).

I have been teaching writing for more than fifteen years for various contexts and institutions (NABA, Scuola Holden, prisons, ARCI clubs, community centers, festivals, companies, schools etc.). At the moment I teach regularly at the Scuola Belleville. In 2023 and 2024 I also have been Adjunct Professor at Ca’ Foscari University (Venice) and Politecnico (Milan).

I am VP of MIA and volunteer for La Grande Fabbrica delle Parole and Piccoli maestri. My favorite animal is donkeys and I am (almost) vegan.
